Day 1

Wednesday, September 3rd 2008.

Scott and I had to catch our plane to Pennsylvania at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. Which meant that I had to stay the night, or at least the few hours we would be sleeping, at his house.  But before I went to his house, I had to take care of a million last minute odds and ends. One of those errands was to finally pick up Scott’s birthday present (which was a month late). I got him The Absolute Batman : The Long Halloween. One of the best stories ever written if you ask me.

I got to his house around 7:00 p.m. and, as you already know, since we didn’t  have the comic printed yet, we had to get the preview copies ready to take with us. Scott already started on this but he had a little mishap (the first of many for us). He needed to print some more copies so he walked the 2 miles to the copy place only to discover that he had forgotten one of the pages, or so he thought. As it turns out, he actually had all the pages with him and just did some bad math. When I got to his house we made the 2 mile trek back to the copy place and printed that shit with only one small mishap. We ran out of paper 1/2 way through the printing and it took me forever to find the correct employee to give us more paper.

After we finished all of our printing we headed back to Scott’s house. By this time I was starving so I went to a little burger joint near his house  I think it’s called The Smoke House or something like that but I call it The Beef Shack. Scott went to his house while I was getting food to start putting the preview copies together.

When I got back to his place I ate my food and watched him work. After I finished eating I pitched in and we finally finished the preview copies.

We realized that we hadn’t set up a ride to the airport so we called a shuttle service to pick us up. We figured that we needed to be picked up at 3:30 in the morning, to get to the airport by 4:00, so we could be checked in and at the gate by the 6:00 flight.

Scott called the shuttle service and talked to the guy. When Scott told him we needed to be picked up at 3:30 a.m. the guy moaned and said “oooohhhh”. He was obviously not happy about a 3:30 a.m. pickup.

We went to bed at about 11:00 p.m. but I just laid there for hours. See, I work nights and I usually go to sleep around 2:00 or 3:00. I finally fell asleep at about 2:00 a.m. The next thing I know, Scott is Saying “wake up dude. we gotta go”.

Somehow I managed to drag my ass out of bed and be ready on time for our shuttle ride. We got to the airport in plenty of time. That’s when everything fell apart for us.

To be continued.
